I have worked in Voluntary and Public sector organisations throughout my career including:
As a staff counsellor within the NHS I had to have an enhanced DBS check, which was last issued in November 2017.
I am a Professional Associate of the Marches Counselling Service, based in Hereford.
Areas of Specialism
I completed a 4 year training in Integrative Counselling in 2001. The training involved using Person Centred, Psychodynamic and Psychosynthesis approaches to work effectively with clients.
Perhaps this can be best understood as the use of person centred values of warmth, positive regard, and a non-judgemental approach to create a safe trusting relationship with the client, the use of psychodynamic thinking to help us make sense of past experiences and how they impact on your present situation and the use of psychosynthesis to help us integrate those parts of ourselves that we struggle with or try to reject, together with the use of our will to help us regain control and direction in our lives.
As a member of the BACP I abide by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) Ethical Framework.
“The human psyche, like human bones, is strongly inclined towards self-healing.”
